Compared to the previous G425, the head shape is more compact while the grooved area is slightly longer. The notable offset, generous top line and the iron number inscribed on the face remain but there is an extra one degree of bounce on the sole. This helps to lower the CG as well as add forgiveness on mishits where the club contacts with the ground too early.

In addition to the three percent thinner face is the new, multi-material PurFlex cavity badge. Its clever design is made up of 15 pieces that form seven flexible zones that allow for more face bending than ever before for increased speed and extra yardage. This also helps soften the sound which contributes to a softer feel.

Ping's steel shafts are lighter in the long irons to help square the clubface and heavier in the short irons/wedges for better trajectory control and feel. Steel shafts are best suited to players who prefer a standard-weight club with a firmer feel.
